The Crossing is a community-based information advice and guidance service in Thetford.

Whether an individual is in a crisis situation or is not sure about what step to take next our team will provide information and support guided by the individual’s needs.

The Crossing also has strong links with both statutory and voluntary organisations in Thetford allowing us to support individuals to access more specialised support if needed.

Whatever challenge you are facing we are here to help this can include:
  • Housing – Completing DHP paperwork, referrals, contacting landlords to source accommodation, setting up household utilities, requesting furniture through charities and local organisations.
  • Benefits – Making claims including Universal Credit and PIP, advance payment requests, queries, support with accessing universal credit journals and mandatory reconsideration requests.
  • Digital Inclusion – Advice and guidance on safe internet access, applications to local organisations for IT equipment.
  • Employment – Support with looking for/ returning to work. CV writing ,completing “Better of” calculations.
    Support to access training/education: Options available both locally and online.
  • Personal Budgets – Cost of living support, issuing food bank vouchers and support to access specialised debt support organisations.
  • Form Filling – Support can be offered to individuals who need help to complete forms including benefit claim forms, doctor’s registration forms and referral forms including mental health self-referral forms.
  • General Wellbeing guidance, Signpost and supported access to specialised support services including: Domestic Abuse, Debt Management & Mental Health.
