Did you know you are also able to report people via East Suffolk Council on 0333 016 2000 or via Streetlink by visiting thestreetlink.org.uk.

What to do when SWEP is active?

When East Suffolk Council activates the Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP), it provides extra support to vulnerable people sleeping rough.

The protocol enables anyone sleeping rough in East Suffolk to access emergency accommodation and support during bouts of exceptionally cold weather. The SWEP will be in place while nighttime temperatures could fall to freezing.

If you suspect someone is sleeping rough, the quickest way to report it is via the Council’s rough sleeper service, by using Streetlink at www.streetlink.org.uk.

Staff will receive an alert, speak to the person if they haven’t already, and try to get them the help they need.

Use the what3words app or visit what3words.com, to help pinpoint a location to a specific three-metre square.

This can be helpful if someone is rough sleeping in a wooded area, for example. You can also email housing.needs@eastsuffolk.gov.uk
